Physical Characteristics
Length, 23-52 in. (57-132 cm). The background color can vary and frequently resembles the surrounding rocks. The background color in this subspecies is usually tan or grey with a brown dorsal pattern of bands or blotches.
 
Geographic Range (USA)
Southern Nevada across to central southern California
 
Habitat
Found in arid and semiarid habitat in predominately rocky areas and loose and sandy soils. Can be found from sea level to 2500 m.
 
Diet
Small mammals and lizards.
 
Venom
Hemorrhagins are the predominant toxins.
 
Remarks
Speckled Rattlesnakes are usually alert and will stand their ground when encountered.
